ICORE Chairman’s 2008/09 AGM Report.
Yet another year has passed us by and we have seen several new clubs affiliate with ICORE but membership is still around 147 according to the ICORE active members.
Last year the regionals were held in Geelong and for those who attended were provided with some excellent stages and facilities. Once again thanks to Andrew Moss and all the people who this a very successful shoot.
During the year to date we completed 2 Aussie postals shoots which attracted a good number of shooters, there still the 3rd postal series which finishes at the end of Oct.
For who were not aware Bev Simpson our Treasurer at the 2009 International Australia Regional Representative, was recognized for her outstanding contributions to ICORE. Congratulations Bev on this achievement and I thank her for her continuing efforts on behalf of ICORE Australia.
This year we organised RO shirts and these have proved very successful with the Range Officers. In addition to this we have just made available new ICORE Australia shirts and Bev is now selling these.
This year we
have seen the return of the regionals to the original host club Bendigo
which was great to see.
Next year the regionals will be held at Pine Valley Pistol Club in WA on the
22nd to 24th Oct. PVPC was the site for the 2007
regionals and who made the trip across previously enjoyed a great match, I
am the same will the same for next year.
The board
this year has approved considerable sponsorship for this years regionals and
we hope to continue this into the future.
During the year I asked Juliane to send out a letter to club members listing
a number of grievances we had been informed of requesting their feedback.
The reason we have not responded before was the items listed in the letter
did not have any real support. The feedback we received was very limited and
in most cases referred to something else.
I guess a lesson for us is only act on issues that are raised through club delegates or direct signed letters from members.
I still believe we have a future within the shooting movement in Australia but we do need to increase our membership to support this. How we achieve this is still the main problem.
I have reached a point where it is time for me to stand down, I believe new blood is needed with fresh ideas, time for someone else to take control and continue the promotion of ICORE within Australia.
I have held this position since 2005 and along with the BOD we have made some major changes over these years. Some of these changes have been
· Promotion of Regionals outside Bendigo. ie, Townsville, Perth & Geelong.
· Telephone conferencing for BOD meetings
· Establishment of the web site
· Guidelines for conducting regional championships.
· Promotion of ICORE Australia shirts and RO shirts.
In closing I would to thank the board for their support and efforts throughout the year and the past four years.
Regards
Ian Bond
